While in Italy neurological diseases in children are increasingly studied , IT can offer support to families and physicians for the constant monitoring and research. Key to Business and the Meyer Hospital collaborate on a pilot project based on Microsoft technology.
Florence, December 17, 2013 – Microsoft, Key To Business and the Meyer Chidren’s Hospital of Florence is an innovative project dedicated to children with neurological diseases and based on DPS DailyNotes , the first app on Windows Phone and Windows 8 built – in pediatric hospital . The goal is to help young patients and their families by collecting the cloud storage service SkyDrive data useful for improving care and medical research . The application is to support families and physicians in facilitating consultation entire medical history and medical history of the young patients .
The project is unique in that it allows you to create an historic and unprecedented behavior of the clinical manifestations of children with respect to environmental stimuli and treatment and thus help both parents in monitoring children, both doctors and researchers in the study of disease . The application created for free by Key To Business , Microsoft Partners who work in the field of Software Development & Systems Integration , combines the innovation of Microsoft technology to the scientific rigor of the research committee of the Hospital Meyer, who collaborated in the development of the project. With DPS DailyNotes we propose to go beyond the psychoeducational aspects , to address those medical and pharmacological , knowing that the extreme complexity of neurological diseases requires a multidisciplinary approach.
The app provides multiple functionalities accessible in an intuitive manner after completing Setup Patient with personal data and details on the disease . Tab therapy is possible to indicate the treatment assigned by your doctor associating one or more medicinal products and dosages . The Medicines Management allows you to manage a number of drugs pre-loaded in the app , and any new occurrences . Through the calendar you can access the individual sheets Crisis compiled over time. Interesting in terms of scientific and medical statistics is the area from which you can access a very detailed reports , available in graphical and tabular form , which shows the dimensions of analysis , such as crises by type, therapy , time slot and for medicine.
†We are excited to participate in this project because it involves two of the main strengths of the Meyer: the department of neuroscience and research activities. In addition, this ‘ daily diary ‘ is intended for families and helps them to be more and more the primary protagonists in the management of the health problems of their children , “said Dr. Tommaso Langiano , Director General Meyer Children’s Hospital of Florence.
“This initiative opens up an innovative dimension in the interaction between the families of young patients and physicians and researchers who follow them , enabling a very timely collection of detailed clinical information that can be used to improve care and process data for research. The process is also instructive for families, they learn what are the events that require medical attention most distinguishing them from those less important , “explains Professor Renzo Guerrini, director of the Department of Neurosciences of the AOU Meyer .
This project confirms one of the key principles of Microsoft’s commitment to Health, or that technology can have a real impact on the health of each and make a difference for the company to optimize the level of service . The app and mobile devices can indeed be used in many areas by simplifying and rethinking the dialogue between doctors and patients . This application in healthcare is providing concrete support to the many families in Italy who are faced with the increasingly widespread problem of autism , simplifying the collection of information between parents and doctors , “said Paolo Valcher , Director of Healthcare market Microsoft Italy . “We are very proud that from the expertise of one of our Partners and the use of our technology is born an instrument through which the young patients Meyer , and we hope soon to other structures Italian , will benefit from more immediate interaction with their own doctors and through which researchers will be able to rely on a historical data of inestimable value . â€
“The technology in recent years has been offering tools to the world of Health, which often find their first use in everyday life. DPS Daily Notes is a project that allows you to make a simple smartphone a tool of communication and control in the management of neurological disorders. Thanks to the Windows Azure cloud platform , we were able to develop the app very quickly and we benefited from a uniform interface and a data sharing solution that allows you to extend the knowledge to other European specialists . In addition to work with the passion of the Meyer Children’s Hospital Foundation and the excellence of the Department of Neuroscience has allowed us to mature in the months of project experience with strong human impact , “saidRiccardo D’Alessandri , Partner at Key To Business.
In addition to Windows and Windows Phone, in a logic of maximum interoperability , DPS DailyNotes is also available for other operating systems and usable on smartphones and tablets based on iOS and Android. The app is free to download from the online marketplace .
